Description
These earrings were inspired by the original mural pattern on the 2nd Ave Lofts in Downtown Saskatoon. Manufactured in Saskatoon, and composed of laser-cut stainless steel with the ear wires being hypoallergenic. Hangs approximately 5.7cm.
Formerly the site of the Nicolson building owned by one of Saskatoon's earliest merchants, J.F Cairns. The Hudson Bay company acquired the property in 1922 and it operated as a department store until 1958 when it was announced that a new HBC store would be built. By 1960, a new 3 story 157,000 sqft was complete which later grew to 4 stories and 200,000 sqft of retail space. Now a converted 5 story condo building with main floor retail space, it remains an iconic piece of Saskatoon's downtown with its geometric mosaic tile mural and punched Tyndall stone facade. The mural was conceived of in Winnipeg, MB, and sent to Italy to be cut.
Etta Architecture is a architecture firm and creative studio formerly based in Saskatoon, SK and now operates out Victoria, BC.
