Danseur & Musicien XL 38cm Vase
Danseur & Musicien XL 38cm Vase
Description
This Limoges porcelain vase featuring Pablo Picasso’s iconic Danseurs et Musiciens (Dancers and Musicians) (1959) was handmade by a team of skilled ceramists at Galerie Marc de Ladoucette in Paris in collaboration with the Picasso Administration.
Picasso’s vivacious image originated as a wash drawing created in November 1959 for the front page of Libération, a newspaper that emerged from the French resistance to the Vichy regime. With its strikingly modern form, the vase revisits Picasso’s interpretation of Arcadian themes, its undulating brushstrokes representing a dancer and a musician with a goat and dove, conveying a spirit of creative harmony.
