About the book
Catalogued from the McCreath Canoe Collection, Canoe spans 200 years and 90 works from every province and territory but the Yukon, across all three coasts. It brings together paintings, sculpture, prints, carvings, glass, ceramics, and birchbark canoes by 50 historical and contemporary artists — among them Alex Colville, David Milne, Cornelius Krieghoff, Frances Anne Hopkins, Ernest Lindner, Illingworth Kerr, and Walter J. Phillips. Each full-colour image is paired with commentary on the work and the artist.
Selected works from the McCreath collection will be exhibited at the Canadian Canoe Museum in Peterborough, Ontario in 2026–27.
