Three Sisters by Emma grew from Emma’s love of beading, fashion, and sisterhood. The name was inspired by her first project—creating earrings for each of her three sisters—and the encouragement they gave her to share her work.

It also reflects the Indigenous “Three Sisters” planting tradition of corn, beans, and squash, where each element supports the others. In the same way, the name speaks to connection, individuality, and mutual support, even within imperfect relationships.

Emma’s beading practice is deeply connected to her Métis heritage, drawing on geometric patterns reminiscent of the Métis sash and inspiration from the land. Influenced by both Vancouver—on the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations—and her upbringing in Saskatoon, Treaty 6 and the Métis Homeland, her work weaves together these distinct landscapes and stories.
