Description
They symbolize a great star that appeared in the sky to guide the Anishinaabe people in their great migrations, prior to European contact. The shell is commonly used to hold a ‘smudge’. A bit of white sage and other plants burned in the shell and their smoke would dispel negative energy and carry prayers to the creator.
Some of our favorite colours in an abalone shell, with a #4 travel brush and paper in a reusable cotton bag! These shells can be used as a palette and carrier.
Healthy Forest: Spring Green, Pine, Milkweed, and Robins Egg
Beam Paints results from a multi-generational love of pigment, paint, colour, and innovation. Anong Beam was raised by artist parents, Carl Beam and Ann Beam, and was taught from a young age how to harvest hematite pigment in the LaCloche mountain range near their home in M'Chigeeng First Nation on Manitoulin Island. Beam Paints draws on her early education in Indigenous pigment and expands it to encompass all paint traditions. A focus on high-quality pigment content creates sublime artist materials, with plastic-free packaging.
