Puppies Puppies (Jade Guanaro Kuriki-Olivo) is a conceptual, performance and installation artist. Her work often draws on the emotional resonance of found objects and shared experiences, exploring love, mortality, power relations, and states of being. When Puppies Puppies first began exhibiting work, she did so anonymously, offering no additional biographical information. After coming out as a trans woman in 2018, the artist began working under her name, now Jade Guanaro Kuriki-Olivo. This volume acts as a defining resource on Jade’s expansive practice,compiling exhibitions, performances and texts through a decade of artistic and personal changes. The publication was realized through close collaboration between the artist and Morcos Key, a design
studio with a hybrid practice operating between social impact, pedagogy, and creative form. Writing and other contributions from curators, artists, friends, and trans activists span critical, experimental and personal responses to Jade’s life and work. The publication concept is inspired by a medical file folder, alluding to the artist’s personal encounters with the healthcare field, while also posing larger questions about how a life can be understood through different types of documents, records and traces.
